AFTRS is a conceptual design.

The project is sited on Broadway at Sydney’s southern gateway.  It challenges the city’s media engagement with the school of Film, Television and Radio. Conceptually the street façade is clad with copper panels that will develop a patina with time, therby giving a reading of the buildings age. This reflects the idea that all media is time based, set at a particular period in time.

The internal spaces of the building are linked and accessed via an internal street that creates a mini media city with the Sydney CBD. The building acts as both an educational institution and public theatre together with restaurants and bars.
